Ammendments to UCC undergraduate prospectus

The following information has been brought to my attention by the UCC admissions office:




Page 128 Law (Pathways)
Page 130 Law and French
Page 132 Law and Irish
Should not list Maths as an entry requirement.
Entry Requirement should read:

Minimum grade H5 in two subjects and minimum grade O6/H7 in four other subjects. Subjects must include Irish, English and another language

(along with the specific language requirements for Law & French and Law & Irish, which are present and correct)


Page 134 Law and Business


Is missing the Maths requirement. Entry requirement should read:

Minimum grade H5 in two subjects and minimum grade O6/H7 in four other subjects. Subjects must include Irish, English, another language and Maths.



Page 142 Computer Science

Should not list another language as an entry requirement.

Naval Reserves Recruitment Call

The Waterford unit of the Naval Service Reserve has issued an invitation to anyone interested in a part-time career in the Defence Forces to apply online until Sunday, October 20th. All interested parties are encouraged to visit the Waterford Military Barracks on Green Street between 7:30 and 8:30 pm on Wednesday October 16 where the barracks can be viewed and all questions answered. Only over 18s can apply. For more information go to military.ie.

Sixth Years will be able to avail of individual careers appointments with the Guidance Counsellor over the coming months (up to Christmas). Students are advised to do one of the aptitude tests that are available via this blog (scroll down to relevant links) in advance.  For the information of those planning to apply for college via the CAO system, note Feb. 1st closing date (more information on cao.ie).

TY programme at UCC

Corvinus - 24th to 28th February 2020
Corvinus, a new Transition Year Programme for TY students interested in literary, creative, and historical humanities will include a range of workshops and taster lectures/seminars on Celtic Civilisation, English, Greek and Roman Civilisation, History, History of Art, Theatre and creative writing. Students will experience what it is like to be an undergraduate student attending lectures and will receive a certificate of completion. Corvinus is limited to fifteen places and entry is by application form, available to download from the UCC Website
