Engineering your students for TY students

Applications are now open for Engineering Your Future, a week-long, hands-on programme designed to introduce TY students to the exciting and diverse world of engineering.

The programme, supported by STEPS at Engineers Ireland and Smart Futures/Science Foundation Ireland, will be hosted by a number of third-level institutes around the country in May 2017, including:

• DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology)
• UCD (University College Dublin)
• IT Tallaght
• IADT (Dun Laoghaire Institute of Technology) • IT Carlow • WIT (Waterford Institute of Technology) • IT Sligo

The programme is designed to give Transition Year students an in-depth understanding of the diversity of engineering at third level and in industry. During the week, students attend interactive talks and presentations; get hands-on experience with group-based activities; visit local industry and meet engineers at various stages in their careers

Participation is limited to between 20 and 40 students at each location. Successful applicants are selected based on a number of factors, including Junior Certificate maths and science results and reasons for seeking a place on the programme. There is a small fee for participating in the programme. (Fees are waived for students from DEIS schools.) The deadline for applications is 10th March. (The programme itself runs in May.)

To apply for a place on the Engineering Your Future programme,  visit steps.ie/engineering-your-future.
